Sustainability of Projects is Critical

Long term sustainability is a top priorty as the community moves forward. Asilong needs support for installations that are beyond their reach. These include investments like water wells, buildings and solar power. These assests are not being owned by outsiders, but become the property of the community, and with ownership comes responsibility. There is a constant focus on how to build capacity in the community so that these investments are maintained, function well and deliver their intended benefits.

The technical team for maintaining the water wells and hand pumps was the first success in this area. Now gardening and livestock to cover the food needs at the highschool is in full swing. More projects will come as the community moves towards full sustainability, which will take time, effort and encouragement.
